This album certainly aims to include a complete collection of Prince's recordings, both vinyl and CD. However, Fun With Vinyl is particular about sound. The recordings were played on a Technics SL-1200MK2 record player and then recorded to DAT tape on a Sony PCM-R300 via a Yamaha RX-Z1 audio/video receiver. The audio was then imported to a PC using a Turtle Beach Catalina sound card and Cool Edit Pro software, where it was remastered, including the removal of clicks, and converted to digital WAV files. The sound quality is of the highest order. Another groundbreaking feature is the inclusion of edited versions not previously included in the Anthology series, as well as B-sides that were omitted because Prince was not involved. While not associated with Prince, the album also includes works by artists connected to Prince, both before and after him.

This Volume 14, with its "Warning: Contains Prince-like Substance," contains a rather strange selection of Prince-inspired tracks, including Prince covers, Prince-like songs, songs written by Prince, and Prince remixes. The album is divided into Part 1 and Part 2. This is Part 1.
