This 1973 live recording of the Cannonball Adderley Quintet is a rare find, despite the abundance of recordings from the late '60s through '70. From the late '60s through '70, the band enjoyed a period of popularity, featuring keyboard luminaries from Joe Zawinul (pre-Weather Report) to George Duke (pre-Frank Zappa). While this '73 live recording lacks any superstars, the performance, perfected during the aforementioned star's time and later refined to a darker tone, is packed with performances of funky jazz-rock classics like "The Black Messiah" and "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy." Enjoy a new arrangement of the classic "Autumn Leaves," from the legendary jazz album known for its collaboration with Miles Davis. While the sound quality is a bit rough due to the audience recording, the rough transitions between songs have been fixed, making this a must-have addition to any collector's shelf.
