This high-quality audience recording captures the first day of the May 13 Tokyo performance at Nippon Budokan, part of Deep Purple's fifth Japan tour in support of "Perfect Strangers" in 1985. The original master recording, never available to traders, is used.
Sound recordings from this day have been available in the past, but the sound is clear and separated, using a completely different master. It's a high-quality audience recording with a clear, separated sound and a high-quality live feel.
Due to a tape change, there's an opening cut-in on Disc 2's "Knocking At Your Back Door," and there's also an opening cut-in on "Woman From Tokyo."
From this day, the Tokyo performances were held at the Budokan for four consecutive days, and some extremely great recordings from the next day's performance have been unearthed and circulated in recent years. However, this is an item not to be missed from this popular reunion tour, where all six performances were praised as the best.
