After releasing their first album, "Freak Out!" (a two-disc set), in 1966, Mothers of Invention followed up with "Absolutely Free" in 1967. This second album is rumored to have inspired the Beatles' "SGT Pepper's," and this video begins with an interview with Zappa during the period when they released their third album, "We're Only in It for the Money," followed by "Uncle Meat" and "Hot Rats." Following on from Beat Club clips familiar to enthusiasts, interviews and live performance clips from the same period in a Paris studio have been digitized and released. This album compiles the early days of the Zappa Institute, which launched numerous talented and eccentric musicians into the world. This release features early members appearing in performance scenes, including Jimmy Carl Black, Arthur Dyer Tripp (double percussion), Ian Underwood, and Motörhead's Sherwood. This is a must-have for Zappa fans, as it captures his legacy from the 1960s.
