This is a superb stereo soundboard recording of Johnny Winter's live performance on August 23, 1988, in New Haven, Connecticut.
This live performance takes place around the time he released "The Winter of '88" on the MCA-affiliated Voyager label, marking a fresh start for him. The stage performance, which skillfully balances the controversial tracks from the album with familiar live tunes, is a magnificent display of Johnny's true brilliance, which really shines in live settings. Fans will undoubtedly agree that this is the kind of robust sound they would have preferred to hear from tracks like "Lookin' For Trouble" and "Stranger Blues" from "The Winter of '88."
This is a superb sound recording, featuring a newly remastered version from the Dead Flowers label in 2014.
