L.A. is still active today. GUNS' latest live performance, and what's more, it's a leaked soundboard recording!
This year, 2009, marks the 20th anniversary of their signature album, "Cocked & Loaded," released in 1989. The band embarked on a world tour, performing all 14 tracks from "Cocked & Loaded" live. This commemorative set features the entire Tokyo performance, the first day of the tour.
This set is packed with highlights, including the feel-good rock 'n' roll of "Slap in the Face" and "Never Enough," the hidden gem from the Rip and Tear album, "Wheels of Fire," the US Top 20 hit ballad "Ballad of Jayne," and the groovy "Malaria, Magdalaine."
The band also nails the anniversary set with a performance of the first four metallic tracks from their debut album, "Ho."
While the absence of band founder Tracii Guns is certainly a sad one, Phil's distinctive, mellow vocals are L.A. GUNS' greatest strength.
With all songs from their second album, four from their first album, and none from their third album, when they began to lose their way, this album is of the highest quality, including sound quality.
The current lineup includes vocalist Phil Lewis, a remnant from their heyday, on drums Steve Riley, formerly of W.A.S.P., guitarist Stacy Blades, formerly of ROXX GANG, and bassist Scott Griffin, formerly of GENE LOVES JEZEBEL.
