This recently unearthed, completely unreleased, high-quality soundboard recording captures the November 7th performance in Hamburg, Germany, from Miles Davis's first European tour in 1956, featuring Lester Young, Bud Powell, and the Rene Urtreger Trio.
Backed by the Rene Urtreger Trio, familiar from the 1957 soundtrack "Elevator to the Gallows," Miles performs four tracks: "Turn Up," "Four," "Yesterdays," and "Walkin'," as well as his historic collaboration with Lester Young on "Oh! Lady Be Good."
Following Bud Powell's piano solos, "Autumn In New York" and "I Want To Be Happy," the final three tracks are performed by Lester Young.
You can enjoy the high-quality sound of the performance in Hamburg on November 7th, a historic excavation recording prior to the recording of "EUROPEAN TOUR '56" featuring MJQ, released by Fresh Sound.
