This album features a performance from the Hollywood Bowl in 1981, the year Miles Davis made a comeback after disappearing from the public eye in 1975. This must-listen album features a masterpiece that finally showed Miles Davis at his best and truly resurrected. While the sound quality was already high, the increased output makes for an even more powerful performance. The title of this album, "Miles Davis Day," comes from a proclamation issued by the then-Mayor of Los Angeles, "Declaring this day Miles Davis Day." This proclamation was originally intended to be read after "AIDA," but because its lengthy passages created a strong sense of interruption in the live performance, it was moved to the final track.
