A collection of superb pro-shot footage from the 1970s, the later years of the career of Muddy “Mississippi” Waters, the father of Chicago blues, is now available.
The first approximately 45 minutes are live footage from his appearance at the Blues & Jazz Festival held in Dortmund, Germany on October 29, 1976, digitally recorded in official-quality digital format from the master used for the 2007 rebroadcast.
Following this is the upbeat "Got My Mojo Working" from the 1973 Midnight Special, also recorded in superb pro-shot quality. The last hour features live footage from the Rockpalast concert in Dortmund on December 10, 1978. While the video quality is slightly inferior due to being an analog master, it's the best quality currently available, with virtually no screen distortion.
Muddy Waters in his prime in the 70s, his Robert Johnson-esque slide playing reaching a new level, and the solid support from his backing band—including Bob Margolin and "Big Eyes" Smith—is truly impressive!
