This is the ultimate definitive box set from the Budokan concert, the opening stage of the "One On One" Japan Tour 2017. The initial limited-edition numbered edition (300 sets) sold out in a flash, so in response to passionate fan demand, we're rushing to restock a second edition!
This masterpiece boasts exceptional quality in both its packaging and content! This is a supreme item for those who seek the "real thing" and have the "discerning sensibility"! EVSD & XAVEL proudly present this truly definitive title!
[Specifications]
This is the familiar EVSD stunning deluxe box set, featuring a newspaper advertisement for the Budokan concert. The stunning binding boasts ultra-official quality that in no way pales in comparison to the "limited lithograph design" of the first edition, which sold out instantly!
A version limited to 100 sets is also available, featuring a 24-page "Budokan Concert Photobook" featuring completely unpublished photos! Please pay attention to the position of Paul's microphone stand in the photo. You can see that it was taken from directly in front. They're so stunning that you might even question whether they're official shots. Of course, all of the photos shown here are from the Budokan concert on April 25th. We're sure they'll make a truly memorable keepsake.
[Sound Source Details]
① Rehearsal (April 24th) - Pressed CD
The sound check at the Budokan the day before the concert, carried out despite the band's immediate fatigue following their arrival in Japan, was recorded in its entirety using multiple high-quality stereo line sources, including a monitor soundboard source. Of course, this is a completely original sound source, never before released by EVSD & XAVEL!
This disc features over an hour of intense rehearsals, featuring an astoundingly rare take of "Here There And Everywhere," as well as tour highlights like "I've Got A Feeling," "I Wanna Be Your Man," and "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)," as well as soundcheck party staples like "Matchbox." Listen to the impeccable sound balance of this disc, capturing the intense rehearsals.
② Live Day (April 25th) Rehearsal - Press CD
The private soundcheck held before the doors opened on the day of the show was fully recorded using multiple stereo line sources, including a monitor soundboard source. This is, of course, a completely original, never-before-seen recording from EVSD & XAVEL!
Perhaps thanks to a thorough tuning session the day before, this day's content was light, focusing on individual instrument sound checks, similar to a typical soundcheck party. Compared to the slightly noisy rehearsal the day before, this soundcheck, recorded with full preparation, delivered perfect sound quality! The real stereo line sound source, recorded with professional equipment, delivers truly outstanding sound quality! Listening to this take just before doors opened and then the main live performance is even more moving. It's also extremely valuable to be able to hear "Bluebird," a song not performed at the Tokyo soundcheck party, in superb sound quality.
③ April 25th Budokan Performance - Multi-IEM + α Matrix Sound Source - Pressed 2CD
This box set's highlight is this exceptionally polished matrix sound source, which will rank exceptionally well among Paul's recent live recordings, not just from this Japan tour. It's a truly remarkable item that sounds like nothing other than a leaked stereo soundboard source! Of course, this is a completely original, never-before-seen sound source from EVSD & XAVEL, available only in this box set!
This is a live recording produced entirely by the XAVEL label, a label that explores the uncharted territory with an insatiable spirit of inquiry, including their specialty "multi-IEM matrix sound source." The stereo mix uses genuine professional-grade equipment, including stereo line sources from on-stage monitoring speakers and multiple stereo IEM sources. After a meticulous mastering process, the result is an unparalleled, powerful sound!
While there are already various "stereo IEM matrix sound sources" on the market, such as matrix sound sources using the stereo IEM sources used by Paul Wickens and pseudo-stereo IEM sound sources mixed with IEM sound sources intercepted and recorded using a mono receiver, this work is literally the "definitive edition" that will send all of those previously released titles straight to the trash. With Paul's voice firmly centered, and all the instruments and chorus positioned in perfect balance and superb stereo positioning, this one-of-a-kind, miraculous sound truly embodies the XAVEL label's commitment to "ever-evolving live recordings."
④ April 25th Budokan Performance - Audience Sound - Press 2CD
Another highlight of this box set is this definitive audience sound source, captured using Germany's Schoeps MK4 microphone, the pinnacle of audience recording. Of course, this is a completely original, EVSD & XAVEL-exclusive sound source, available only in this box set! With so many audience sound sources released immediately after the show, you might be thinking, "Enough with audience sound sources already," but yes, this sound source is just as "completely exceptional" as the killer multi-IEM matrix sound source, so be sure to give it a listen! Once you listen, you'll understand why this audience recording was necessary to conclude this box set. While the EVSD & XAVEL label has also released an audience recording using a high-end omnidirectional microphone, rest assured that this is a different master. The greatest appeal of this recording is the ultra-high-quality sound, recorded directly from the PA speakers, utilizing the microphone's "unidirectional" characteristics. While there's no annoying ambient audience noise, the clapping on "Love Me Do" and the sing-alongs at key moments, like "Hey Jude," are perfectly captured. While it's a step behind the multi-IEM matrix recording in terms of distance, the unadulterated, high-quality sound will more realistically evoke the emotion of a live performance. This title, free of excessive equalization, offers a natural and robust sound that won't tire you out no matter how loud you listen, and the more you listen, the more flavor it develops. This moving recording perfectly captures the beautiful moment created by the band and audience coming together in a historic, one-night-only concert at the sacred Budokan!
