This DVD release captures a one-hour performance from the band's 2006 invitation to the annual music festival held in Vina, Chile. While this may not sound particularly new to those who saw the reunion or have seen it in some other form, it's a convenient source for a glimpse of Kansas with the return of their two frontmen, violinist Robby Steinhardt and vocalist/keyboardist Steve Walsh. Few '70s American hard prog bands have so successfully recreated their original sound. Another defining feature of the reunited Kansas is the increased use of Robby Steinhardt's lead vocals, featuring early hits like "Belexes," "Bringing It Back," and "Down the Road." However, their performance remains virtually unchanged, and the level of reproduction is overwhelming. The band's potential remains strong. It's a shame, however, that Steve Walsh's physical condition is somewhat affected. And, with the absence of core member Kerry Livgren, the band's creative lack of initiative, with few new songs being written, could be addressed. If these issues can be addressed, I believe this band's full revival is possible.
