SODD's second release in the Stones Original Master Archives is Vol. 1, a live compilation from the band's 1972 tour, known as "STP," a highly popular peak performance. This high-quality compilation features must-see performances from the numerous live recordings from this period, which were also captured in the film "Ladies and Gentlemen," finally released this year. Vol. 1 features the tour's opening show in Vancouver, Canada on June 3rd, and the following day's performance in Seattle, both in newly digitally remastered editions from the original masters. While these three shows have been previously released, this release features newly remastered audio based on direct copies of the audience masters from the original recording tapers, delivering the raw sound quality of the Low Generation at an unprecedented level. The first three shows of this tour are noteworthy in content, featuring nine tracks from the "Exile on Main Street" album, including "Torn and Frayed" and "Ventilator Blues," two tracks only performed on this day at the Vancouver concert. The second show in Seattle features Nicky Hopkins playing "The Loveliest Night of the Year" on piano before "Happy," and a stop and restart during "Midnight Rambler," making this a must-listen for collectors as a valuable record of that tour. While some audio recordings themselves contain unreleased material, the sound quality is on par with the original masters, delivering the complete set across three shows on four CDs.
