This title certainly aims to capture Prince's complete recordings, both on vinyl and CD. However, Fun With Vinyl is particular about sound. Playback was performed on a Technics SL-1200MK2 record player, and the audio was recorded to DAT tape on a Sony PCM-R300 via a Yamaha RX-Z1 audio/video receiver. The audio was then imported to a PC using a Turtle Beach Catalina sound card and Cool Edit Pro software, where it was remastered (including removing clicks) and converted into digital WAV files. The sound quality is top-notch. Another groundbreaking feature is the inclusion of edited versions not previously included in the Anthology series, as well as B-sides that were omitted because Prince was not involved. While not associated with Prince, the collection also includes artists with connections to Prince, both before and after him.

This Volume 12 features the 1987 debut album by St. Paul, the vocalist of The Family (out of print and hard to find on CD), as well as an extremely rare 12-inch and remixes from that album. While often overlooked because it's completely removed from Prince, the contents are top-class Minneapolis funk masterpieces. St. Paul's remixes are also incredibly funky, with a strong commitment to their work! And the Wendy & Lisa remixes, with their stunning sound, will have you feeling the lingering scent of Prince in their music.
